Carlo Ancelotti appointed as new Chelsea manager

I haven’t posted since The Yellows won their game in the FA Cup final. A lot has happened since then, which, I’m looking to unravel, now that I’ve got the time to do so 😀

I’m not a big fan of Ancelotti. Yeah, he won the Champions League for AC Milan twice (could have been  3 times, read on to see why) and the Italian League just once  ( :O ). I guess since he has his name on the UEFA trophy, Roman gave him the job. Period. There is no other reason as to why, of all the people, Rijkaard, Van Basten, Zola, Grant or even Mourinho, he chose Ancelotti.
He is very orthodox in his play, sticks to his formation no matter what the circumstances (its the Christmas tree 4-3-2-1) which, is conducive to only one striker, while Chelsea have 4 vying for that position every match.  In the historic Istanbul CL finals, under Ancelotti, Milan had score three goals through Maldini and a brace from Crespo to lead 3-0 at half time. AC Milan had won the game before it even started.

Then, in the second half, the Merseyside team bounced back and scored a goal.
Ancelotti didnt bother.

Liverpool again scored.
Ancelotti was still dancing with the crowd.

Liverpool scored. Again. (thus scoring 3 goals in a span of 6 minutes)
Ancelotti went “WTF!” as a fly went into his open mouth. :O

The ‘Pools went on to win (through penalties) their only trophy in recent  memory and performed The Miracle Of Istanbul. Ancelotti was left kicking himself.

Also add the fact that he doesn’t speak much English, and that AC Milan were playing in the UEFA Cup this year (AFAIK) and lost to Werder Bremen too in the Round Of 16, we might have another Scolari in our hands. Still, I have faith in Roman, and The Blues, so lets hope that this is just one of those wierd feelings that will be proved wrong. 😐

(and you thought I wouldnt post about football now 😛 )
